Doulas in Fresno  Doulas in Visalia Fresno Doulas  Visalia Doulas

Birth partners benefit from the support of our doulas, because we are there to support them as well. We spend time getting to know both you and your partner prenatally, so we know how to best work together during your labor.

When labor begins, your doulas are just a phone call away.  Your doula is able to help you decide when you would like her support and will come to you whenever and wherever you need her.  She will maintain a safe space for you, and make sure you understand what is happening in your birth, whether you are at home, at the birth center or in the hospital.  In the case of a birth center or hospital birth, she will help you decide when you would like to go and get settled in there.  As labor progresses, she is by your side to suggest positions, give soothing touch, and practical assistance such as reminding you and your partner to eat and drink, even helping to bring you food and drinks.

In the immediate postpartum period, she will stay by your side, helping you establish the first feeding of your baby, get you settled in bed and bring you anything needed.  She will slip away and let your family get to know your new addition, but is available if you need anything.  She will meet with you one last time, during your first week at home to answer any questions about parenthood, baby care, to help with any issues breastfeeding, and even give you a hand with a chore or two!
